All incoming IAA students are required to attend and participate in New Student Orientation. Participants are required to remain for the entirety of the event. Students must bring an official photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport, to Orientation.

Certificate-First Orientation Dates: Thursday, June 20 or Friday, June 21

Ag Forward Orientation Date: Tuesday, June 18

Register & Pay for Orientation

Preparing for New Student Orientation:

Prior to Orientation, all students must:

  1. download an Orientation checklist
  2. activate their UMD computer accounts
  3. submit an Immunization Record form to the University Health Center
  4. pay a $100 Orientation fee
  5. apply for on-campus housing (if desired)

The Immunization Record form must be submitted to the University Health Center (UHC) at least one week prior to Orientation, or the student will be blocked from registering for classes. The Health Center will lift the block once the form is turned in.

Please note, UHC does not accept immunization forms by email. You can upload your immunization information and form at www.myuhc.umd.edu, using your directory ID and password to log in. You can also submit your immunization form by mail, fax (301.314.5234), or in-person to UHC.

All students who have recently graduated from high school are required to have an official transcript verifying graduation sent to the IAA.

Additionally, all UMD students are required to have health insurance. If you already have health insurance coverage, submit a Health Insurance Waiver to avoid being charged for UMD’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP).

Incoming Agriculture Forward at Maryland (Ag Forward) students are required to take the University's Math Placement Test prior to Orientation. Certificate-seeking students are encouraged to complete this step if they are planning to pursue a bachelor's degree.
