Aaron Frock Brings the Classroom back to the Family Farm

October 17, 2013

Hiring and keeping loyal employees who genuinely care about their jobs is a challenge businesses face, unless it’s a family business where you raise your employees.  IAA student Aaron Frock has been a mainstay in the agribusiness management field for quite a while. For the past decade, Frock has been assisting in the management of his family farm, Frocklyn Valley Family Farms in Carroll County, MD.  He has done everything from landscaping, mowing, weed eating, tree pruning, operating various equipment, handling hay, wheat and straw, to tending to the cattle and other animals around the farm.

This past summer, using the knowledge he learned during his first year at the Institute of Applied Agriculture, Frock gained a deeper understanding of the farm operation and his career path.  After graduation, Frock will help run the family farm, but says he plans to look for a second job off the farm.  He enjoys farming, but also has an interest in electrical work.

Frock has done extremely well during his first year at the IAA, maintaining a grade point average above 3.5, earning a spot on the dean’s list. Frock loves what he does, and will definitely be a valuable asset to anyone’s business.
