Welcome Christina Lorenz, IAA's New Student Services Coordinator

July 25, 2014

The Institute of Applied Agriculture (IAA) welcomes Christina Lorenz to our staff as our new Student Services Coordinator. Born and raised in the Pacific North West, Christina engaged in many facets of the agriculture industry--raising livestock, managing greenhouses, working in crop production, and teaching. Christina, a former 4-H member, was also involved in the FFA and served as a dairy princess-ambassador.

Her interest in agriculture led her to Oregon State University, where she was awarded her undergraduate degree in Agricultural Sciences with a minor in Animal Sciences. During her time as an undergraduate, she served as a student ambassador for the College of Agricultural Sciences and remained involved in the FFA Organization. In addition, Christina participated in an international agriculture program and was able to study agriculture in Central Europe. She then went on to work in the communications office for the Oregon Department of Agriculture, developing agricultural literacy materials.

After earning her Master of Science in Agricultural Education from Oregon State University, Christina became a high school agricultural sciences and technology teacher and FFA advisor. She also worked for the National FFA Organization, providing leadership training for FFA state officers.

In her spare time, Christina enjoys horseback riding, snow skiing, hiking, boating, cooking and traveling. Christina will be handling the marketing, recruiting, and admissions for the IAA.   She is passionate about education and is excited to be a University of Maryland Terrapin. Feel free to stop by her office in 2123 Jull Hall and say hello!
