Learning how to create and apply nutrition plans can benefit all of us.  This summer, Institute of Applied Agriculture student Sydney Weinstein, interned for Kentland Nutrition Club in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  A second-year student at the IAA, Weinstein is studying Agriculture Communication and Leadership as her 2-year concentration and is planning to earn her 4-year degree in nutrition science with the goal of becoming a nutritionist.

At Kentland Nutrition, Weinstein worked one-on-one with clients to create nutrition plans to meet their intended goals, which included designing weight loss meal plans and making nutritious shakes for her clients.

“Making smoothies and helping each client with the weight loss program was the best part,” Weinstein said.  Her favorite part of the internship was the 7-week weight loss challenge that Kentland Nutrition Club held at its facility. She was excited to see the happy faces when clients saw the amazing results.

Weinstein also enjoyed the 30-minute nutrition classes that focused on a different nutrition topic each week.  Topics included proteins, water, and carbohydrates. Along with meeting with clients, designing weight loss meal plans, and making smoothies, Weinstein ran the company’s Facebook and Instagram social media accounts.  She posted promotions about upcoming events and Kentland’s Nutrition Club Herbalife, which was their smoothies. Wrapping up Weinstein’s internship experience, she learned a lot and had a great time meeting new people. Weinstein got to use what she has learned in the IAA and put it into action when she was put in a real-life job.
