IAA's 2nd Annual Impromptu in the Garden

Oral Communication student Kirena Manivannan selects a topic.

April 29, 2016

Tuesday, April 19, yielded a gorgeous spring day for the IAA's second annual Impromptu in the Garden speech contest, an event which encourages INAG 110: Oral Communication students to bring their Fearless Ideas to life.

Students were selected by IAA Oral Communication faculty to participate in the speech contest.

IAA Lecturer, Tony Pagnotti emceed and organized the event. Students drew from Tony's envelope of prepared topics and had only moments to prepare before delivering five-minute speeches.

Ultimately, Devin Cain was crowned the Impromptu champion, for his ode to actress Selena Gomez's tenure on the Disney Channel.

Impromptu in the Garden was made possible by the hard work of the IAA’s team of oral communication instructors and staff: JoEllen Barnhart, Carole Dingess, Eric Dunning, Amy Fisher, Michelle Molinaro, Tony Pagnotti, Gerald Powell, and Ed Priola, and our gracious sponsor Pepsi.
