TURFGRASS DISEASE

Turfgrass diseases are considered to be a major pest of turfgrasses in Maryland. A majority of turfgrass diseases are incited by fungi. The two major factors favoring fungal diseases in our area are:

1)A suitable environment for disease development which includes high relative humidities and favorable temperatures.

2)The susceptibility of the principal turfgrass species grown in Maryland (cool season turfgrasses) to disease infection and spread.
