Cecil M. Massie Scholarship |
This award originated from an endowment fund established by Dr. and Mrs. Cecil M. Massie. Dr. Massie was a faculty member teaching agricultural mechanics at the Institute for 21 years. The award may be renewable for one semester, contingent upon satisfactory academic progress. A minimum of 6 credit hours per semester is required.

Edward M. Bowman Family Scholarship
|
This scholarship is available to IAA students who possess strong leadership skills and demonstrate enthusiasm for experiential learning. Recipients should be innovative, self-starters who may not have the same opportunities as others without some financial assistance. Recipients must be in good academic standing. |

Golf Course Builders Association of America Foundation Scholarship |
Recipient must be a Golf Course major enrolled in at least 6-9 credits in the second year of the two-year program. Financial need is not considered when awarding this scholarship. In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability.
This scholarship is intended to be competitive. The applicants must possess a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA based on a 4.0 scale. Applications are to be submitted to the advisor of the Golf Course major in which the student is enrolled. A letter of support from someone in the industry must accompany the application. Students must reapply each year to be considered eligible. However, the scholarships may be renewed if the recipient maintains the above criteria and it is determined that he/she is the best candidates.
The final choice of the recipients of these scholarships will be made by the Scholarship committee of The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Maryland College Park based on the recommendations of the advisors.

Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) |
This scholarship is awarded by the GCSAA and recipients are selected based on recommendation of a faculty advisor and an employer. Applicants must:
1) Show evidence of scholarship, aptitude and achievement, 2) be enrolled as a second-year student, 3) Be interested in a career of golf course or turfgrass management, and 4) be in need of financial assistance. |
A special application must be completed. The applicant must also submit a personal, self-written letter of request and include a brief biography. See your faculty advisor for details.

Maryland Horse Breeders (MHBA)
|
Maryland Horse Breeders - If you are at all associated with the Thoroughbred Industry within Maryland, please fill out the attached application (scroll down to the last page for the application itself and see page 2 for Scholarship information).

The application is due September 1st, but don't delay! You also have to include a cover letter, letter of recommendation from an employer, an official copy of your Fall Schedule and an official transcript. The latter two items can be requested from the Registrar's office through Testudo.

Maryland Turfgrass Council
|
The Maryland Turfgrass Council supports scholarships to students majoring in General Turfgrass Management and Ornamental Horticulture. Students must have a strong academic record and must be sponsored by someone within the industry.

Patapsco Grange No. 403 |
Funded by a generous endowment from Patapsco Grange No. 403, this award requires a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester, a sound academic record, and good citizenship. Preference is given to students committed to a career in the agricultural business management sector.

Shield Memorial Scholarship |
Awards are made annually to students enrolled in the IAA's Golf Course Management program. This endowed scholarship fund continues to grow. Past awards have ranged from $750 to $1500. Recipients must show future promise to the golf course industry and have a sound academic record |

Turf Equipment & Supply Company Scholarship |
The TESCO scholarship is open to students enrolled in the Institute of Applied Agriculture who intend to enter the green industry, including but not exclusive to: golf course management, horticulture, landscape management, sports turf, and turfgrass. Recipients must maintain at least a 2.5 percent GPA. |

American Farm Publications, Inc. |
American Farm Publications, Inc. is awarding five $1,000 Delmarva Farmer scholarships to members of farm families, to those employed in an ag-related field, and to those who are studying for a career in agriculture. These scholarships are available to residents of MD, DE, VA, NJ, and PA only. |
To apply, students should go to www.americanfarm.com and complete and postmark the application by March 3, 2008. Students should include a high school or college transcript, and an original essay detailing your agricultural background, interests, accomplishments, and financial need. Annie's Homegrown Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship |
Annie's Homegrown Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship Program is open to full time undergraduate and graduate students beginning or returning to an accredited 2 or 4 year technical or college program or graduate school in the U.S. for the upcoming school year. Each year we offer $75,000 in funds to students studying sustainable agriculture. Applications for the 2012/2013 school year will be available in September 2011. |

Calvert County Resident

The Humane Society of Calvert County, Inc., in partnership with the United Way of Calvert County, is committed to assisting those wishing to pursue higher education in an animal-related career. We are pleased to welcome those aspiring veterinarians, vet technicians, dog trainers, and others to apply for our annual scholarship program. We will award four persons each with a $1,000 scholarship. You must be a current resident of Calvert County to be eligible for this scholarship. Two-Year College Scholarship Program from the CHS Foundation |
First-year agricultural students at two-year colleges are invited to apply for 50
$1,000 scholarships from the CHS Foundation.
Student eligibility: Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the scholarships.
* Student must be in his/her first year at a two-year college studying an agricultural-related major; the scholarship is intended for use during the second year of study.
* Each student can only receive the scholarship once.
* Student must be a U.S. citizen

Colonial Farm Credit Foundation

Educational scholarships are awarded to students who are furthering their education through attendance at a college, university, vocational, or trade school. Scholarships are awarded annually to individuals who exhibit an aptitude for learning and a desire for self-improvement through education.

HRI Endowment Fund Scholarships

The HRI Endowment Fund offers four scholarships for undergraduates and graduates studying horticulture: Timothy Bigelow and Palmer W. Bigelow, Jr. Scholarship, Carville M. MAEF, Inc. |
MD Agricultural Education Foundation (MAEF, Inc.)
accepts applications annually for the Dr. Ronald J. Seibel Scholarship. This $1000 scholarship will be offered to one IAA student for the current academic year. Applications are due April 15. Please see the MAEF Scholarship page for more details and a copy of the application.

Maryland Dairy Industry Association Scholarship (MDIA) |
For this scholarship, the qualifications include:
- Must have MDIA membership or be a dependent of a member.
- Available to graduating high school seniors and students enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college.
- Applicants can win the award only once.
- Scholarship will be awarded directly to the college or university on the student's behalf.

MD Farm Bureau |
MD Farm Bureau will offer ten $1000 scholarships for the 2007-08 academic year. Applicants must be FT college students, and they or their parents/guardians MUST be members of Maryland Farm Bureau. An essay on "What is the Future Direction of Agriculture in the State of Maryland and What Role Does Farm Bureau Play in this Future?" is required as part of the application process.

MD Grain Producers Utilization Board |
The Maryland Grain Producers Utilization Board allocates grain checkoff funds to support a college scholarship program. The program is administered by the Maryland Grain Producers Association to support students enrolled in a Maryland or an out-of-state institution who are pursuing a career in an agricultural field. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,500 each ($1,250 for each semester).
Purpose
The scholarship is to provide financial support to students interested in pursuing an agriculturally related career. Given the dynamic changes in agriculture today, the advances in biotechnology, global positioning systems, environmental protection, and crop and livestock production, Maryland's grain farmers believe it is very important to encourage students to consider careers in agriculture by supporting their educational needs through scholarships.

Application -: Applicants must be a resident of the state of Maryland and must be enrolled or accepted to a four-year institution working toward a Bachelor of Science Degree, or enrolled or accepted to a two-year institution with an agricultural program. The applicant or the applicant’s immediate family, must be involved in the production of grain.
Selection:-
The Maryland Grain Producers Scholarship Committee selects the scholarship recipients. The selection is based on the student's agricultural background, family farm involvement, financial need, grade point average, agricultural related studies, career goals, and extra curricular activities. The selection is made in June.
Process :- Interested students should return a completed application. The Maryland Grain Producers Scholarship Committee may request additional information prior to the selection. Applications must be received by June 1st at the Maryland Grain Producers office.

Maryland Greenhouse Growers Association (MGGA) |
The Maryland Greenhouse Growers Association (MGGA) is now accepting applications from students currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college horticulture program at a Community College, State College or Private College in the State of Maryland.
The minimum scholarship is $1000 per student and can be up to $3000 per student upon approval of the MGGA board members. |
An application must be filled out by the student by July 20 of the current year. The form is submitted electronically to : Stanton Gill at Sgill@umd.edu or Andrew Ristvey Aristvey@umd.edu . Application must list student’s name, address, e-mail and horticulture program they are enrolled in currently. Applicants must provide a written text of 1000- 1500 word length describing why they are worthy of a MGGA scholarship grant. Please list how the money will be used to further your education and advance your proposed career in horticulture.

Maryland State Grange offers 3 types of scholarships
i) Edward F. Holter Agricultural Scholarship

Mid-Atlantic Farm Credit is pleased to offer this scholarship program to students who plan to or are continuing their education at the college level.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Applicants must be high school seniors, or currently enrolled in a two- or four-year institution. They, or their parent(s) or guardian(s) must be members of Mid-Atlantic Farm Credit. Eligible counties are Baltimore, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Dorchester, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Queen Anne, Somerset, Talbot, Washington, Wicomico, Worcester.

Mid-Atlantic Association of Golf Course Superintendents Scholarship (MAAGCS)

The Mid Atlantic Association of Golf Course Superintendents will again be awarding scholarships to turf students who meet the necessary criteria and are deserving. Five to seven scholarships are awarded annually. All applicants must be pursuing a turf management career, and be an employee of a MAAGCS member.
