Maryland State Fair and Marlin K. Hoff Scholarships

The Maryland State Fair offers two scholarships for students. Each scholarship is very different so please read all of the requirements carefully to determine which scholarship is best for you!
Individuals may apply for both the Maryland State Fair Scholarship and the Marlin K. Hoff Scholarship; however, individuals may not be recipients of both scholarships. Recipients of the Maryland State Fair Scholarship and the Marlin K. Hoff Scholarship will be recognized during the Maryland State Fair at a special awards ceremony.
Maryland State Fair Scholarship
In recognizing the importance of education and the participation and contributions to the Maryland State Fair, a Scholarship Program has been initiated by the Maryland State Fair. Nine Winners will be chosen for the Maryland State Fair Scholarship, and each will receive $2,000 in scholarship money. The applicant must be a permanent resident of the state of Maryland and an active participant in the 2016 Maryland State Fair.
The applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university or a high school senior who will be entering their freshman year in college in 2016. The applicant is required to complete the application that includes an essay on their participation in the Maryland State Fair, the impact of this experience and how this scholarship will be beneficial in the achievement of the applicant’s career goals. In addition, letters of recommendation are required.
Marlin Hoff Scholarship
The Marlin Hoff Scholarship is offered to Maryland youth who have carried a dairy project and are enrolled in a four-year college. The Maryland State Fair will sponsor this scholarship, worth $2,000. The recipient will be selected on the basis of involvement in the dairy industry, academic performance, leadership qualities, future goals, and financial need.
This scholarship is available to all Maryland dairy youth who are currently enrolled or have been enrolled in the dairy project either through 4-H, FFA, or breed organizations. Students must be pursuing a four-year degree at the college of their choice. This scholarship is available to entering freshman through entering seniors. The applicant is eligible to win this scholarship one time only. This scholarship is awarded during the Maryland Holstein Futurity.

Proof of enrollment to an accredited four-year college or university must be presented to the Maryland State Fair (P.O. Box 188, Timonium, MD 21094-0188) to collect on the award.
